Las Vegas Ophthalmologist Offers Eyelid Surgery Options to Reduce Signs of Aging
Dr. Helga Pizio performs blepharoplasty on the upper and lower eyelids
Las Vegas, NV – Dr. Helga Pizio, a Las Vegas cataract surgeon, has a mission to help patients who want to improve the way they look in addition to the way they see. In addition to vision correction procedures such as Laser Assisted Cataract surgery, LASIK or Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) surgery, Dr. Pizio offers eyelid surgery options for patients who seek a smoother, more refreshed appearance around their eyes. Patients of New Eyes, Dr. Pizio’s private practice, can restore their vision while boosting their self-confidence.
Dr. Pizio highlights these benefits of eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty):
- Reduce puffiness
- Reduce bagginess
- Reduce signs of age around the eyes
- Remove sagging skin that may impact vision
At her Las Vegas eye surgery practice, she says this procedure is a popular cosmetic enhancement treatment that can positively influence a patient’s entire facial appearance. Blepharoplasty can give the eyes a more youthful look by removing excess skin, bulging fat, and lax muscle from the upper or lower eyelids. Occasionally, sagging upper eyelid skin obstructs a patient’s vision; eyelid surgery can eliminate the obstruction and expand the patient’s field of vision.
There are two types of eyelid surgery, depending on a patient’s needs:
Upper Eyelid Surgery:
- Rejuvenates areas around the eyes that may be contributing to a tired, aged appearance
- Removes any excess skin that is obstructing vision
- Lifts and reattaches remaining skin, yielding a more refreshed and youthful look
- Hides any scarring in the crease of the upper lid
Lower Eyelid Surgery:
- Reduces under-eye bags
- Reduces puffiness
- Removes excess fat, skin, and muscle
- Smoothes and tightens remaining skin, yielding a more youthful and rested appearance
While patients can expect some degree of bruising and swelling for several days after the procedure, Dr. Pizio notes that any discomfort can be managed with medication. Some patients may temporarily experience some blurred vision, double vision, excess tearing, and light sensitivity during recovery. Most of Dr. Pizio’s patients resume normal activities after a few days and are advised to avoid strenuous activities for 2-3 weeks after surgery. Dr. Pizio would like prospective patients to know that her practice accepts reimbursement insurance and that blepharoplasty can be covered by medical insurance if the procedure is deemed a medical necessity.
